On off cards

So have had a few orders for some on off cards recently. It's difficult working out the price for each individual so I've decided to go for set prices.

The latest two were an anniversary card using a red, black and white theme as that was their wedding colours and a birthday card for a man whose hobbies were golf, football or computers. I decided that golf was the theme to go for.

Fathers Day around the corner

Well it's been a busy few days with father's day around the corner. Men's cards are not my favourite to produce at all and I have had orders for a few one off's this time around. Luckily topics were provided otherwise I would be seriously stumped for ideas. After the father's day rush I have some more commissioned orders for Anniversary and Husband birthday's.

I think the challenge is getting the right balance with embellishments. I also find that a lot of back papers and extras are very female orientated which makes them difficult to adapt.

The car card was commissioned for an MG fan so with a search I managed to find a line drawing of an old MG car which I then matted and used my lovelly corner punch to found off. The tag buckle was then inked around the edge to age it a little as was the large matting which is raised off of the surface of the card.

The music card is for a musican dad I was able to see his set list on it there was various dire straits songs. Luckily in my musical collection I have the sheet music to brothers in arms so scanned that in and replicated it over and over again to form my own backing paper which I was then able to use a little chalk ink to distress. Using peel offs of a guitar I then did a small mounted embellishment and finished with the wording.

Name Canvases

So have been experimenting on the computer again and found some lovelly photoshop brushes which are just perfect for water colour painting.

One of the things that I have been after for a while for myself is a name picture canvas for Jake's room. So with a little creativity I have managed to put together Disney Character Name Picture using the brushes on Photoshop. Also a girl version - although can't upload that to the main site yet as it's a gift for one of my friends.

I'm printing them out on some lovelly canvas and will then mount and frame them. For Jacob's one it will be an oak frame with a pale blue mount to match the colours. With Faith's I will have to see what is available.

I will be selling them unframed for £10 and £10+ the cost of the mount and frame for orders that want the image framed as well.

Some graphic design work

Well I've gone back to the computer for the last piece of work. A friend has just set up a new enterprise in Essex - Childcare Sorted. She wanted a logo designed that incorporated the name and a person holding children's hands.

These were the first two designs. She much prefered the one in a circle of the words. However, the fact that the little boy is looking the other direction and not holding the ladies hand didn't quite sit right. Back to the computer screen - I love doing tweeks to things.

New design of the woman with 2 children. Still boy and girl and looking up at her. Her holding their hands. Which even if I say myself looks good. So showed her again. She loves the image - but not sure on the text - maybe a more formal font and try in different colour blues, pale to medium blue.

So the 3 blues are the final items. New font - and the different colour possibilities. Still waiting for a final decision. It's a bit away from hand made papercraft and gifts but I've really enjoyed the process.

A work in Progress

To accompany the cupcake boxes and as many of my friends are in the process of having babies, have just had babies then I thought some cupcake cards would be a nice idea. Either as a set for party invitations or as individual cards.

Instead of putting a cupcake onto a card I decided to try and make the cupcake the card. It's definetly a work in progress and I'm not 100% pleased with it but it's getting there. The icing on the top is proving the most difficult part.

Hopefully this week along with a few other ideas I will get them so that I am happy with them and can stick them onto the website for sale.

As to the website. I've made it, just looking into hosting at the moment but hopefully very very very soon there will be a Cerysmatic Creations website Live.

Fathers Day Card

Today I have been working on Father's Day cards. The first will be £2.50 and is a tall thin landscape card with a mottled brown background. Each of the shirts are individual made. At the moment this is available in a blue/orange/brown combination but can be adapted to requirements.

Cup Cake Favour Boxes

I've had a fun hour this afternoon working on cup cake favour boxes. They are relatively easy to make but at the moment are a little on the small side for me. I'm planning to scan in the template and enlarge to a reasonable size, if that doesn't work I will be using some of my long unused graphic skills of enlargement (from school days) to get a variety of different sized boxes.

At the moment I have only managed to do plain paper/card but my mind is busily thinking over how to get it working with patterned paper. Ideally a stripped paper on the bottom.... But that will be a bit of a puzzler for a while I think.
